About Us

Palazzo Spinelli Non Profit Association was founded in 1998. Palazzo Spinelli's aim is to safeguard world cultural heritage by promoting, organising and managing initiatives for the study, conservation, restoration, promotion and fruition of cultural and artistic heritage.

Palazzo Spinelli operates in over thirty different countries, organising training schemes and refresher courses for people working in the field of cultural heritage management, conservation, restoration, cultural and environmental tourism and also event organisation. The association also carries out projects in collaboration with public authorities and private companies such as the European Commission, UNESCO and the Italian Foreign Ministry. Our work with the Ministry is carried out in the framework of cooperation agreements in the fields of Science, Technology and Culture underwritten by over 40 governments worldwide.

Palazzo Spinelli has over 15 years of experience in the field with more than 300 master's courses completed and over 1700 graduates, making it a point of reference both in Italy and abroad. The association also offers hands-on training, planning, operating and responds to the labour market, has constantly been at the forefront of restoration and preservation in the sector.


Accreditation

Palazzo Spinelli is an accredited institution of the Tuscan regional authority (Regione Toscana – Decree no. 1722 of 25 March 2003) and since its establishment, it has held courses recognised by the Ministry for Public Instruction and Welfare (under the Law no. 845 of 21/12/1978). Since 2010 it has also been a member of ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts), and is the leader in the League’s Conservation and Restoration section.


The Quality System

The Institute has a quality policy, which is certified by ISO 9001: 2008 standards. Our aim is to continuously improve the Institute’s processes and procedures, encourage changes within the structure and promote continuous cultural exchanges with our society.

Palazzo Spinelli promotes the idea that teaching does not just have an affect on the human, civil and cultural conscience of students, but also serves to transfer essential wide-ranging knowledge, and professional awareness as well as providing the skills to recognise and adapt to our changing society and business world.

Palazzo Spinelli has the following objectives:

  • Create training initiatives based on a real analysis of occupational and teaching requirements
  • Organise activities guaranteeing optimal conditions for the supply of services to ensure efficient learning
  • Promote and develop the relative human resources to work on the creation and realisation of training activities
  • Promote collaboration with national and international public authorities and private companies to facilitate the unrestricted circulation of trained professionals
  • Test innovative teaching methods linked to expertise, managerial and professional activities

To achieve these goals, Palazzo Spinelli organises cultural and scientific events in Italy and abroad, collaborating with public authorities and private companies. The initiatives are all aimed at diffusing knowledge of artistic, scientific and cultural knowledge as well as facilitating research, conservation and fruition of cultural and artistic heritage.


Membership

Since its creation, the Institute has joined several national and international networks, as well as partnerships whose specific objective is the preservation of cultural heritage and an economical world.
 
Particularly in recent years, the Institute's priorities have been grafted into the wider European process of cultural development, aimed at producing a great effort to leave behind the crisis and create conditions for an economical and higher employment rate. 
 
The Europe 2020 strategy is a growth plan that is unique, down to to more effective investments in education, research and innovation. Thanks to the decisive choice in favour of an economy aimed at the protection of the environment and sustainability, the strategy aims to create more jobs and reducing unemployment.

Palazzo Spinelli is member of the Board of ELIA (European League of Institutes of Arts) based in Amsterdam and it plays a leading role among the member institutions working in conservation and restoration.

ELIA, is the largest network of institutions for fine and applied arts in Europe and has more than 400 members that attract over 350,000 students.

According to a monitoring report from the Ministry of Work and Social Policies on training activities for Italian residents in non-EU countries (2004-2010), Palazzo Spinelli obtained the following for student satisfaction:

  • Satisfaction in terms of teaching 9.6 out of 10
  • Satisfaction in terms of expectations 9 out of 10
  • Perceived usefulness 9.6 out of 10 (highest score out of all the courses monitored)
  • Percentage of participants who would do another course at Palazzo Spinelli: 93%

Students who have participated in the master’s courses between 2003 - 2010 have come from over 30 countries.
