Carolina Izzo
Paintings Restoration
Carolina Izzo graduated from the Institute for Art and Restoration - Palazzo Spinelli in 1981 and has over 40 years experience on a broad range of conservation materials, specialising in the fields of painting conservation and works in wood. She has taught at tertiary institutions in both Italy and New Zealand and was awarded a medal by the Swedish Fondazione Axel Munthe and the Star of Italy for her contributions. 
Carolina currently teaches and directs a conservation studio based in New Zealand where a team of skilled operators and conservators offer a wide range of expertise. She worked for 18 years on a range of contracts for the Italian Ministry of Art and a number of international institutions before relocating to New Zealand.  Here she worked on staff for 6 years at the National Museum ‘Te Papa Tongarewa’ before establishing her own conservation studio in the capital of Wellington. Currently her studio in Auckland serves many of the national institutions, leading galleries and private collections in New Zealand and overseas. During her career Carolina has collaborated with the Institute for Art and Restoration on various projects offering internships to students on the three-year vocational courses.
